Did you know upright posture actually requires muscle activation even though there is no movement? Erector Spinae Muscles are used when we sit or stand straight. In fact, these muscles enable babies to start to crawl on their stomach and assist us to get off the bed when lying on our stomach.

Erector Spinae Muscles include three parts, Spinalis, Longissimus and Iliocostalis. What fancy names, huh? No worries. They are just located in the back of your neck, back and pelvis along the spine and ribs. If you simply picture the long-shaped muscles, you will be able to understand why the muscles are named “erector”. Makes sense?
