Ahhhhh...

“Ahhhh” is the sound I made when I got out of the car this afternoon…actually almost always…Do you as well?

Driving or sitting in the passenger’s seat is a big part of our daily lives but it is definitely exhausting, and we even continue to sit throughout the day because that is what many of us do every day. What lower body muscles do you think I overused from lengthy sitting?

In order to sit, we need to bend hips, and knees as well. So when bending hips I used Quadriceps Femoris Muscles, which includes rectus femoris, vastus medialis, vastus lateralis as well as vastus intermedius, and Hamstrings, that is, biceps femoris, semitendinosus, and semimembranosus when bending knees. Curious where the Origins and Insertions are located? For Quadriceps Femoris Muscles, the Origin is a side of pelvis and femur, and the Insertion is a top of your knees. For Hamstrings, knowing hamstring is located in the back of your upper leg, the Origin is at the bottom of your sitz bone (the bone that touches the chair when sitting) and the Insertion is around the top of the knees.

Here are two exercises that reduced the tightness from my hips and knees. Gluteals, A.K.A. glute or butt also has a role in these exercises, but I will write about it later.

Single Thigh Stretch

Hip Rolls
